Prawn Shop

VERSE 1

Your name was Stella, we met by the sea
And arm in arm, we walked to the quay.
You couldn’t walk far on your septic corns -
We came to a shop that sold prawns.

VERSE 2

We queued at the prawn shop down by the shore.
I offered you winkle but you wanted more.
You held my hand at that seafood seller
And told me I would always be your paella fella Stella.

CHORUS

You promised me love, and all of that stuff.
You cast your nets wide
and I was just a fishy-wishy trapped inside of your aim
A prawn in your shellfish game.

VERSE 3

Your whelks were amazing; we sampled the moule
The clam chowder dazed me; I acted the fool.
Girl you put me through living hell.
Not just in love – gastronomically as well.

VERSE 4

You came on all vampy; I asked for the bill.
You toyed with your scampi; I moved in for the krill.
I thought that the oysters were fuelling desire.
But you were pretending, what a liar; jambalaya.

CHORUS

You promised me love, and all of that stuff.
You cast your nets wide
and I was just a fishy-wishy trapped inside of your aim
A prawn in your shellfish game.

VERSE 5

The next day I saw you with a new Romeo,
Acting like you were in some West-end show.
Eating your food with provocative stabs.
He had the lobster and you had the crabs.

VERSE 6

Now that it’s over I don’t bear a grudge,
I’ll not be the jury, I’ll not be the judge.
I’ve still got that picture of your face on the shelf -
You look like a stinking crustacean yourself.

CHORUS

You promised me love, and all of that stuff.
You cast your nets wide
and I was just a fishy-wishy trapped inside of your aim
A prawn in your shellfish game.
A prawn in your shellfish game.
A prawn in your shellfish game.
